There are a lot of people that work for the company and 80% of them prefer to keep their feet on the ground
Sometimes I am responsible for working on iron projects that are high off the ground. I didn’t start off working on projects like this, but I was always the type of person to take a chance and do something crazy and dangerous. When my boss realized that I didn’t have a natural fear of heights, he took advantage of that and started using me for the Iron Work projects that were way up in the sky. When I started working as an ironworker, there really were no safety rules. I would get up on the scaffolding with tools in both hands and try to keep my balance while I work. Nowadays, I have to wear a safety harness. I wear the safety harness and I am connected to a special machine that automatically stops me from falling if tension is released from the cord. I have a special machine that holds all of my stainless steel 16 gauge rebar tie wire. The machine holds spools of 16 gauge rebar tie wire and it is easy for me to grab a piece of the rebar tie wire and then fasten the pieces of rebar together. There are a lot of people that work for the company and 80% of them prefer to keep their feet on the ground. I’m happy to make the extra money for doing something that others might consider crazy. I don’t mind taking a chance to make big bucks and the safety harness will always keep me from falling and plummeting to my death. The only fear I have is getting struck by heat lightning.
