I don’t know the first thing about construction, and until last week I could not have told you what rebar was used for, but right now I have a keen interest in it! There has been a major shortage of these kinds of building supplies for the last few weeks in our area.
This has caused slow downs and stoppages of construction sites and new roads all over the state! I am not in the business, so none of that mattered to me, until I found a source for supplies in a neighboring state.
My old college buddy owns a construction supplies warehouse, and happened to have tens of thousands of dollars worth of rebar rods, wire ties, and tie wire coils sitting on his shelves. We got to talking about old times, which lead to newer times, and then he told me how much profit we could make from flipping the tie wire coils and rebar rods. Due to the nature of the shortage we could triple or even quadruple the price for forming wire, ironworker wire, and double loop wire ties, not to mention the rebar itself. Maybe you could call it “price gouging” but I say all is fair in love, war, and business so we wrung every last penny out of the rebar rods and various kinds of wire ties. I wouldn’t say that I have developed a passion for rebar or wire ties, but I finally understand how valuable they are to the right people. If you have a need for rebar or wire ties, hit me up in the comments!
