Have you ever been robbed? I was hanging out with my Uncle Jim last weekend, and he was telling me how his truck had been robbed recently.
The technical term is “hijacked” and sounded like a scary situation, but also a little bit funny.
I am sure it wasn’t funny to be there, but Uncle Jim has such a great way of telling a story he had me rolling on the floor laughing about having a gun stuck in his face. It’s easy to laugh when no one gets hurt, right? So Uncle Jim had been contracted to haul a huge shipment of rebar rods, bar wire, and tie wires from here out to the coast. It was a two day trek, but not a very difficult one. The trick with hauling rebar and wire ties is to keep it slow, because everything is so heavy it is hard on the truck. In the middle of the night he is coming out of a truck stop and a group of armed men in cars pulled up around him. Jim had been robbed before so he kept his cool and did what they asked. Finally he had to ask the robbers “why do you guys want to steal so much rebar and wire ties, isn’t there something better to steal?” And the robbers all got mad and started arguing, because they thought they were robbing televisions, not rebar rods and wire ties. The robbers had no idea what they could do with a huge truckload of rebar rods and wire ties!
