Using rebar to make art

My cousin used to want to be a painter, but after dropping out of college she decided to become a sculptor instead.

My family thought Bess was crazy, but I knew she was just an artistic, sensitive girl who wanted to follow her dreams.

I would agree with the rest of the family that there is not much money nor job security for a sculptor. On the other hand, some people are born different, and have to pursue the arts to find happiness. There is more to life than money, and that’s what Bess was after. In a surprising turn, my support of her endeavors was more than just moral support, because I ended up supplying her with rebar rods, wire ties, and forming wire to use in her art. Bess has a grand scope, and works with the giant sculptures you see in public parks and at museums, which means she has a tremendous need for the strength and durability you can only find in rebar words and forming wire. These are the materials used to make the foundations of buildings, because cement and concrete need frameworks of rebar rods and wire ties to secure them. Without rebar rods and wire ties, there would be no construction… and it turns out there would be no large sculpting, either! Bess is surprisingly adept at working with rebar rods and forming wire, so all I had to do was teach her the best ways to use double loop wire ties, and she was good to go. I can’t wait to see the finished product.
