I live in the deep south, and around here we have something called the flea market.
Having never been to the north, I have no idea if this is a tradition all across our great country, or if it just exists in the south.
A flea market is an open market for anyone to sell their used or handmade items. You can find all kinds of stuff at the flea market, from hand made candles and wares to gently-used clothes, and even scrap metal or old bicycles. I only ever go to the flea market for fun, but last time I went I saw something I knew would be great for the business. One of the old scrappers there had over two tons worth of rebar, bar wire, and double loop wire ties. If you were not aware of this fact, rebar rods and double loop wire ties are pretty expensive, so finding all of this in one place was like finding a horde of treasure! The man running the place was only interested in money, he didn’t care about the retail value of the rebar rods or the wire ties, so I bought everything from him for a fraction of the normal price. I actually slipped him a few bucks more than he asked for, because he obviously had no idea how valuable the American made double loop wire ties were worth on the open market! After I got all the different spools of forming wire and ironworker wire loaded I counted the rebar rods, and then found another twelve tie wire coils!
